Mediterranean Model United Nations (MEDMUN) is a challenging United Nations simulation hosted by the Middle Eastern and Mediterranean studies Campus de Menton of Sciences Po Paris. It tackles the complex political, economic and social issues facing Mediterranean, Middle Eastern, and North African countries today.
MEDMUN is held in Europe’s leading Political Science and International Relations universities. It constantly strives to provide students of diverse academic as well as social backgrounds with an opportunity to better understand the world of diplomacy and international affairs, as well as the dynamics of the United Nations.
MEDMUN promises a unique academic experience and opportunity to build friendships. It also helps delegates network in a dynamic atmosphere.
For the 10th anniversary, MEDMUN is aiming to think big:
They will add Spanish to the five existing languages committees: Arabic, French, English, Italian and Turkish.
They will also introduce an International Criminal Court and an Ad Hoc committee as well.
In addition to its world-class keynote, each committee will welcome its own guest speaker to discuss the topics the delegates will be debating.
To move towards a brighter future, it is always important to understand the past. Thus, the MEDMUN 2022 board, chose the theme: “10 years of MEDMUN, exploring Mediterranean affairs 2012/2021.”
The conference expects the delegates to dive into the major crises in the MENA region, understand its conflicts. The delegates should also discuss how people could prevent or handle such conflicts.
Moreover, MEDMUN will give a great amount of emphasis on promoting common ground among the delegates of MEDMUN as well as a global view to foster the importance of civil societies in the international agenda.
