Model United Nations (MUN) conferences are organized by and for students from all over the world in order to simulate the work of the United Nations and similar organizations. Further, MUN conferences offer students the opportunity to engage in academically oriented discussions and debate about the greatest challenges facing our international system.

Participants will represent delegates of different foreign countries in one of the committees. Also, the delegates then have to stick to their role and may not state their personal opinion during debates. Furthermore, during the formal
sessions, delegates exchange their countries positions, try to form alliances and in the end, they aim to issue a
comprehensive resolution with concrete measures to be implemented.

However, MUN conferences are not mainly all about discussing and negotiating. Additionally, the social events during the conference are an integral part of every MUN as well. Then, those informal events will help you to come to know your fellow delegates better and they will help you to find new friends. But do not forget that apart from socializing the informal meetings are a great opportunity to lobby during the social events as well.

About GöMUN 2020

Model United Nations Society Göttingen (MUNSG) was established in 2005. Further, A group of students decided to participate in the famous Harvard World MUN in Edinburgh and founded the society. Since then, society has constantly evolved and was proud to organize its first GöMUN-conference in 2009.
Apart from planning and holding the conference, the society works closely together with the Department for Political
Science of the Georg-August-University Göttingen. Since the winter semester 2006/2007, the University offers an
interdisciplinary seminar about the United Nations in cooperation with our society. As a non-profit organization with the aim of improving international dialogue, the society also raises funds to offer financial support to its members, who wish to attend MUN-conferences, whenever possible.GÖTTINGEN Model United  Nations 2020 (GöMUN) is going to be held in Göttingen, Germany.
