National Model United Nations (NMUN) is a U.S. 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that advances understanding of the United Nations and contemporary international issues. Further, We positively affect the lives of participants and prepare them to be better global citizens through quality educational experiences that emphasize collaboration and cooperative resolution of conflict. We envision a world comprised of civically engaged people who strive for peaceful, multilateral conflict resolution and equitable, sustainable human development.

Moreover, Be a part of the 900+ university students from around the world who come to the U.S. capital and participate in discussions of issues at the forefront of international relations. Further, NMUN•DC offers eight simulated UN committees and procedural rules developed with UNITAR. The conference features smaller committee sizes than our New York conference, a crisis simulation in the Security Council, and also, briefings by distinguished speakers from the Washington, DC diplomatic community. Adding on, Delegations may also arrange briefings at nearby embassies or extend their stay to visit national museums and monuments.

Thorough preparation is the key to a successful NMUN conference experience.  All delegates should read the NMUN Delegate Preparation Guide. It will provide answers to most of your questions.

Resolution Policy

Although delegates are encouraged to develop resolution writing skills, both in classroom scenarios and at other Model UN simulations, NMUN conferences do not accept pre-written resolutions. Further, Delegates should refrain from discussing the issues with other delegations until their first committee session.
