Interested candidates are welcome to apply for the Stamford American International School Model United Nations (SAISMUN) 2020. The Executive Committee of Stamford American International School Singapore’s MUN Club was honored in becoming a member of SEASAC and to join a community of schools dedicated to the ideals of the United Nations. Further, It is the distinct pleasure to host and invite you to the upcoming, second annual session of SAISMUN from the 7th to the 9th of February, 2020.

They will be updating this website throughout the year with specific conference and committee information. They will also be including a delegate handbook along with research reports to help facilitate the process and provide sources of information to the delegates.

Moreover, You will find SAISMUN to be a conference like no other. Although it is only their second time hosting, they are committed to hosting an excellent conference and are excited to craft three days of quality debate that not only reflects the complex challenges facing our world today but also our futuristic and progressive outlook. SAISMUN will feature a mix of both familiar and unfamiliar committees with topics of the same nature.

Committees

This year SAISMUN will have nine different committees. The nine committees will consist of the;

• United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC),
• Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC),
• Human Rights Council (HRC),
• World Health Organization (WHO),
• General Assembly 1 (Disarmament and International Security),
• General Assembly 6 (Legal),
• Security Council (SC),
• Further, Historical Security Council (HSC),
• Special Conference (SpecCon).

Topics

Each topic has a comprehensive report written by the expert chair assigned to that topic. The reports have all edit, yet there may still be some inaccuracies. Further, they strongly urge you to expand your research beyond the report and to ensure the stance you formulate is in line with that of your delegation’s actual stance in the United Nations.
However, the ideas and information produced in the reports are those of the individual Student Officers and do not necessarily represent the views of the SAIS or SAISMUN organizations.
