Sussex Model United Nations (SMUN) is an international Model of United Nations conference where people from all over the world can attend.

It is a great opportunity not only to debate current topics of international relevance but a space where a delegate will be able to learn about the world and gain significant skills in diplomacy, communication, research, and teamworking.

SMUN Committees

Following from the main theme of resolving yesterday’s issues to keep moving forward, SussexMUN 2022 will consist of 4 main committees, encompassing 4 key unresolved issues of the international arena:

UNICEF (Beginner delegates)

• Child work and labor: an urgent call of concern
• Upholding child protection laws during disease outbreaks

UN Human Rights Council (Beginner and Intermediate delegates)

• The Need for Western states to provide reparations to the states which were colonized
• Accountability and redress for human rights violations by law enforcement

COP26 (Intermediate delegates)

• Adapting to as well as Mitigating Climate Change Impacts in Developing Countries
• Impacts of Deforestation in the Amazon Rainforest concerning Climate Justice and Human Rights

UN Security Council (Advance delegates)

• Rising nationalist conflict within Bosnia Herzegovina
• Non-proliferation in Iran

Cost

Delegate & Head Delegate fees are £30 per person.

Faculty Advisor fees are £15 per person.
