A Model United Nations is a conference, usually lasting between three days and a week, where students from all over
the world. Furthermore, they come together to step into the shoes of diplomats from all the UN member states in order to debate about topics concerning international relationships such as human rights, the environment, peacekeeping operations, or the role of the children in armed conflicts, among many others.
The general structure of the United Nations is reproduced: the main organs and committees are represented, such as the Human Rights Council, the Security Council, the General Assembly or the Economic and Social Committee. Additionally, that is why delegates exchange and negotiate about their country’s position in order to write, vote and pass a final resolution,
The Universidad Carlos III Model (UC3MUN) is open to any college student who wants to walk in the shoes of a diplomat for a few days. Furthermore, their committees are classified according to the experience and language of participants so that nobody is left out. Also, they have committees design for beginner, intermediate and advanced levels. Also, they create with the aim of achieving the level of expertise of the members of each committee is as homogeneous as possible and that discussions are fluid. In addition, there are committees in both Spanish and English, as we do not want the language to be a barrier for any of the participants.
Universidad Carlos III Model is more than debate. Additionally, top that, each edition we have the presence of prestigious professionals, within their field of expertise, who offers us a series of introductory lectures designed to orient participants about the topics they address in their respective committees. In addition, attendees can learn first-hand and exchange different points of view with representatives of the diplomatic, business and institutional world. aiming at proposing solutions to the international stakes underlay by the topic.
