The MIHI project aim is to grow capacity in the field of youth work through community gardening as a youth work tool in disregarded suburban areas to raise awareness towards the global issues of climate change and its associated causes and problems amongst young people in the local level. Further, The MIHI project will equip youth with valuable knowledge and experience in urban gardening, re-greening, sustainability, and food production. Also, to tackle the lack of capacity in the field of youth work through developing urban gardening as a youth work tool.
Moreover, All these tools and concepts are not an everyday theme within the youth but are essential in creating an ability for increasing resilience through facilitating empowerment and shared learning. Further, Gardening can be and should be as a tool for social inclusion, especially in areas with high poverty risks and amongst young people with fewer opportunities. Therefore this MIHI project will enable the youth participants to inspire their peers and share their newly found passion for green urban spaces in a sustainable community-managed way that enables change and overcoming intercultural and other differences.
Objectives
To equip youth with necessary tools for working in neglected suburban areas;
To empower youth workers and youth in the field of community building and help them acquire necessary competencies to work not only with their immediate peers but also youth with fewer opportunities and with migration background and to promote integration;
To work together in developing the concept of community gardening as a tool for youth work;
To develop job-related skills in youth, such as realizing working with volunteers and target groups;
Further, To observe possibilities of implementation of the learning work outcomes from partner organizations, to collect and process feedback;
To reflect on the concept and share practical tools and techniques for urban gardening as a youth work tool for social inclusion;
To promote gardening as a community building tool through various means, such as social media, networking events and public events;
To extract and disseminate the knowledge gathered and created on project topics;
To ignite public discussion on the topic and involve local municipalities.
Benefit
The training course is possible with the financial support of Erasmus+. Accommodation, food, and travel (up to 360€) VISA costs are covered (up to 80€), All costs are covered based on the original receipts.
Eligibility
18+
Good English speaking
Further, Youth workers who are engaged or practically planning to start an urban community garden.
Priority would be given to those participants who are actively involved in volunteering or working in NGO.
Also, that have a project related to the field or well-being to implement in their community after this program.
