Applications are open for the Short-stay Visiting Expert Grants. The mobility of Short-stay Visiting Expert Grants is an important condition for the exchange of knowledge and innovative research. Because of this, KU Leuven supports the incoming mobility of academics from established and future partners in the South, to work on topics related to global development. Within the framework of university cooperation with developing countries, KU Leuven professors and researchers will be stimulated to participate in one of the following activities:
Take part in a prospective discussion or prepare a new academic or research cooperation with KU Leuven
Further, Follow up a new or an existing cooperation project with KU Leuven
Do (short-term) joint research at KU Leuven
Give guidance to a Ph.D. student of KU Leuven, for instance as a member of a Ph.D. examination committee
Further, Give guest lectures at KU Leuven
Attend seminars, conferences, and other academic activities at KU Leuven
KU Leuven also encourages the outgoing mobility of KU Leuven lecturers and professors who intend to make a short trip to a university in the South.
Get involved in the joint structuring and implementation of initiatives in the field of education, especially in those initiatives that have a distance or online component (such as MOOCs)
Preparing and improving structural frameworks for placement of KU Leuven students as interns in an institution in the South
Benefit
A return flight ticket in economy class (based on the invoice)
Visa costs and other travel-related expenses (based on the invoice)
Also, accommodation (based on the invoice) with an indicative maximum of € 100 per night
A per diem of € 75 per night (for a maximum stay of 5 days, or longer in case of co-financing with the inviting faculty)
Eligibility
Senior academic staff members employed by KU Leuven
Postdoctoral researchers employed by KU Leuven and supported by a senior academic staff member
Further, Administrative and technical KU Leuven staff (ATP)
appoint professors and postdoctoral researchers
Candidates should be provided with an invitation from a KU Leuven professor (ZAP)
