VSO is the world’s leading international development organization that works through volunteers to fight poverty. Working in 24 countries around the world, Their unique role in international development is to place committed volunteers with carefully selected organizations where their skills can have the greatest impact. As a VSO volunteer, you’ll live and work in some of the world’s poorest communities. By sharing your unique skills and experience you’ll help generate new ideas and new ways of doing things, helping the communities you work in lifting themselves out of poverty. They are not about delivering quick fixes, but instead, they focus on long-lasting, sustainable change, that will impact generations to come. Join us as a VSO volunteer and help us work towards their vision of a world without poverty.
Moreover, VSO is currently implementing the Unlocking Talent Project in various primary schools in Malawi. The project uses tablet technology to improve core competencies of reading, writing, and mathematics for Standard 1 and 2 (early grade) primary school children. This is an exciting initiative that will among other things provide real-time data to teachers and school administrators on learners progress. This, therefore, provides new and different opportunities and challenges that educators need to respond to.
Therefore the project is looking for an education adviser who will be able to train and support the teachers and school administrators to be able to respond to these challenges and to mainstream this new approach into their teaching as well as the overall school activities.
