The UN SDG Action Campaign is looking volunteers to support the preparations, communications and delivery of the SDG Global Festival of Action.

1. Volunteers Supporting Preparations for the Event (March-4 May)

Tasks will include: 

  • Support on participant list management and communications to attendees
  • Also, Support on participant liaison to share logistical information as needed
  • Support on responding to enquiries about the Festival
  • Also, Support on mapping room-set up and technical requirements for sessions and keeping logistics plans and records up-to-date
  • Support on updating conference materials to be showcased on the event website and to be shared with participants in a timely fashion – this will include logistic notes and updates to the agenda
  • Also, Support on ensuring sustainable principles are rolled out throughout the Festival plans and operations
  • Other administration tasks as required to support the Events Management team
  • Also, Preparing materials to be distributed to participants at the Festival
  • Support on the updating of event information onto the event management app

Requirements:

  • Based in Bonn
  • Also, Fluent English. Other languages – in particular German – are an advantage.
  • Competent in written English and communicating in a professional manner
  • Also, Organized, reliable and friendly manner.
  • Proof that the volunteer already has health insurance for the period of the appointment
  • Also, Strong time management skills and an eye for detail
  • Participants applying for this category will be need to submit a resume and will be contacted for a telephone interview

2. Volunteers Supporting the Operations of Running the Festival (1-4 May)

Tasks will include:

  • Preparing participants packs (on 1st May)
  • Also, Registering and welcoming participants and handing out their badges
  • Directing participants to sessions
  • Answering participants’ questions at the information point
  • Also, Assisting participants with watching the UN Virtual Reality Movies
  • Managing microphones for Q&A parts of sessions
  • Moving tables and chairs to change room set-ups between sessions
  • Also, Support in running the innovations zone
  • Support in running the UN SDG Action Awards Ceremony
  • Also, Support in managing the film screening zone
  • Cloakroom assistance
  • General logistics support tasks as required

Requirements: 

  • Based in Bonn or the volunteer has an appropriate visa or residency rights to be in Bonn for the duration of the Festival
  • Also, Fluent English. Other languages – in particular German – are an advantage.
  • Organized, reliable and friendly manner.
  • Proof that the volunteer already has health insurance for the period of the event.
  • Also, Participants applying to this category will need to be available for a 2 hour briefing meeting ahead of the Festival – date and time to be agreed with the Festival Organizing Team

3. Volunteers Supporting Communications During the Festival (22 April-4 May)

Tasks will include: 

  • Supporting social media coverage and generating multimedia – photos, videos, clips, lives – content
  • Also, Supporting video and photo editing
  • Conducting participant interviews as requested
  • Capturing sessions, workshops and Festival stories in both writing and visuals
  • Also, Supporting the SDG Studio as needed:
    1. Liaising with speakers, ensuring they are at the stage on time and following the schedule
    2. Supporting with stage configuration (such as moving chairs), managing microphones
  • General communications tasks as required

Requirements:

  • Based in Bonn or the volunteer has an appropriate visa or residency rights to be in Bonn for the duration of the Festival and the week before
  • Also, Proof that the volunteer already has health insurance for the period of the event.
  • Fluent English. Other languages are an advantage.
  • Relevant experience and passion for communications/social media/photography/video editing/new media
  • Also, Understanding of sustainable development and a personal passion for the SDGs
  • Participants applying for this category will be need to submit a resume/portfolio and will be contacted for an interview.
