United Nations Job Opportunity in New York, USA is for the position of Programme Management Assistant. The position is located in the Delivery/Solutions Architecture Business Analysis team of the ERP office of the Department of Management in New York and reports to the Information Systems Officer. The position serves to assist the Delivery team in the coordination and implementation requirements to deliver its programme of work, as detailed further down in the ‘Responsibilities and Tasks’ section.

Responsibilities

Within limits of delegated authority and depending on location, the Programme Assistant will be responsible for the following duties:

•Assists in the coordination of Umoja planning and preparation work for, typically, a medium-size and complex component of the Umoja initiatives; monitors status of programme/project proposals and receipt of relevant documentation for review and approval.
•Compiles summarizes and presents basic information/data on specific programmes/project and related topics or issues.
•Reviews project documents for completeness and compliance with relevant rules and procedures prior to submission for final approval and signature; identifies inconsistencies; distributes project documents to relevant parties upon approval.
•Provides basic technical support in respect of Data and technical developments in assigned areas of the Umoja Solution.
•Compiles summarizes and enters data on project delivery; drafts related status reports, identifying shortfalls in delivery, budget overruns, etc., and brings to the attention of management.
•Performs other duties as assigned.

Education

-High school diploma or equivalent is required.

Work Experience

-A minimum of five years of experience in programme or project administration, technical cooperation, administrative, finance, information systems, or related area.
-Basic technical IT capability and experience is required.
-Exposure to an ERP system, such as Umoja, is desirable.
-Advanced experience in Excel and with MS Office suite are required.
-Experience in Data analytics, Finance integration and reporting is desirable.

Languages

-English and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. For the post advertised, fluency in English is required. Knowledge of French is highly desirable. Knowledge of another official United Nations language is an advantage.

Assessment

-Evaluation of qualified candidates may include an assessment exercise which may be followed by competency-based interview.
