To encourage postgraduate research Victoria University of Wellington offers scholarships to those about to begin their doctoral studies. These scholarships are awarded on academic merit and are open to New Zealand and international students in any discipline.
There are limited numbers of scholarships available each round, and you may be offered admission without a scholarship. It is therefore important that you investigate alternative funding options.
Scholarships will normally be tenable for three years. For a student who has already been enrolled for a Doctorate at Victoria University of Wellington for more than three months at the time when the offer of a Scholarship is made, the maximum length of tenure of the Scholarship will be reduced at the discretion of the Victoria University Research Scholarships Committee.
Victoria University of Wellington established in 1897 one of the oldest universities in New Zealand. It is ranked 215 in the 2020 QS World University Rankings and in 2015 it received five stars from QS Stars University Rating in each of the eight categories- arts and culture, discipline ranking and accreditations, employability, facilities, inclusiveness, internationalization, research, and teaching. The Duration of the doctoral scholarship is three years.
