This Health Communications Fellowship is designed for professionals who want to enhance their skills and drive meaningful change in public health through effective communications. Apply to be part of a network of changemakers dedicated to strengthening health communication across the continent.

FrayCollege is launching a fellowship program to address the challenges in disseminating health information across Africa. These challenges stem from gaps in health reporting skills and the effective communication of health research. The program recognizes the critical role of communication in enhancing public health awareness and translating research into actionable knowledge. By bringing together journalists and health experts, the fellowship aims to improve the coverage of health and development stories across the continent. It offers an opportunity to reinvigorate the way health issues are reported, bridging knowledge gaps and ensuring that vital health information reaches broader audiences, ultimately fostering better public understanding and engagement in health and development matters.

The 9-month fellowship will support two collaborative cohorts comprising health journalists and health sector experts offering access to bespoke training workshops, resources and grant support aimed at improving the quality of health reporting in Africa.

Eligibility

• Open to Health journalists, experts from Nigeria, South Africa, Kenya, Zambia, Malawi and Ethiopia;
• Journalists should have some experience in reporting on health issues and ideally work for a publication or media house;
• A ‘health expert’ could be a scientist, researcher, public health official, policy maker, community health worker, academic, civil society campaigner or activist.
