Amsterdam University has put out a call for the talent grant for international students to study in the Netherlands. The university started a grant in 2013 with the aim of providing financial support to excellent students. Moreover, Amsterdam University talent grant targets international students, usually from outside the European Economic Area (EEA), Switzerland and Suriname who wish to study at the university.
Usually, when non-EEA students seek university studies away from home, they have to pay institutional tuition fees. These are considerably higher as the government does not subsidize them. Amsterdam University introduced the Talent Grant to helps non-EEA students. Moreover, it covers the difference between the institutional tuition fees and the government-subsidized statutory tuition fees for the entire duration of their study at the AHK.
However, students from Master of Museology cannot apply. In addition, the Talent Grant for non-EEA students of the Academy of Architecture and Academy of Fine Arts does not cover the entire difference between the institutional tuition fees and statutory tuition fees. Please contact the academy’s student adviser for details.
The grant committee will assess each application on the basis of the student’s potential, as well as their financial situation.
The head of the study programme at the AHK will assess each applicant before they can apply for this grant. The head of the study programme may set their own criteria for ‘exceptional merit’. The director of each academy will make a ranking of the applications; They will present the ranking to the Executive Board of the AHK for the final decision.
Please contact the student adviser of your academy to find out whether you meet the criteria of this grant. If you are eligible to apply according to the head of the study programme, you’ll receive an application form from the student adviser of the academy.
However, the Amsterdam University cannot grant the Talent Grant retrospective to the academic years that the student has already completed.
Applicants must send their applications by no later than 1 June 2019. The university will announce the grant result in the second week of July.
