The Amuthan Medical Research Grant in Australia, offered by James Cook University, is open to applicants of all nationalities pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Medicine or Surgery.
The Amuthan Medical Research Fund was established in 2013 in memory of Amuthan Annamalai, a Year 6 medical student at James Cook University who passed away on January 25, 2013. The fund aims to enhance the health of underserved populations in tropical regions through medical research and community development. It focuses on public health/health promotion, infectious diseases (especially typhoid and Dengue fever), and health services. By supporting research, the fund seeks to improve the quality of life, promote health equity, and achieve excellence in clinical care for people living in the tropics.
