Applications call for Second Century Fellowship at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. The Second Century Fellowship at the University of Wisconsin-Madison is designed for a recent graduate or early-career reporter and is meant to prepare journalists of color, and those from other groups underrepresented in the media industry, for a successful career in news.
The incumbent will be a general assignment reporter responsible for producing newscast-length stories and, occasionally, feature-length material. The fellow will also contribute to WPR’s online news efforts. Regular and concentrated coaching on writing, editing, voicing, and other aspects of radio news reporting is an important developmental element of this fellowship. This position is based in Milwaukee and reports to the Assistant News Director. This position will operate remotely at present but will eventually be expected to report to the office.
The salary for the Second Century Fellow is $3,500 per month. The Second Century Fellow will also receive health and dental benefits during the term of the fellowship.
