Applications are open for the Harvard South Africa Fellowship Program 2022. Harvard University President Derek Bok established the Harvard South Africa Fellowship Program in 1979 to address the needs of South Africans denied access to advanced education by the apartheid system.

The creation of this program was a direct response to the strong movement by Harvard students and faculty during the divestment campaigns of the 1970s. The Program continues to serve as an intellectual resource for talented South Africans, with the goal of providing a “transformational experience” at Harvard University during the fellowship year.

Applications for the Google News Initiative Student Fellowship in Europe 2022 are now open. The Google News Initiative Student Fellowship has been created to support the next generation of European media professionals. Students and recent graduates can now apply to become a Student Fellow.

Selected Student Fellows will work at one of the participating newsrooms for eight weeks during the summer of 2022. Depending on the particular matching criteria of each newsroom, Student Fellows will research and write stories, contribute to open source data projects, design new digital products, and/or contribute to one of the many other innovative projects newsrooms have ongoing. The GNI Student Fellowship will be kicked-off with an online bootcamp that will allow the Student Fellows to get to know each other, build a network, and receive career-enhancing workshops from experts in the work field.
