Applications are now open for the Funded Scholarship at the University of Melbourne. This scholarship is offered to students in the 150-point or 200-point Master of Journalism programs at the University of Melbourne. The scholarship supports the development of a piece of journalism in any format. Also, the University of Melbourne established in 1853, the University of Melbourne is a public-spirited institution that makes distinctive contributions to society in research, learning and teaching and engagement. Romeo Schiavon was born in Treviso, Italy, also arrived in Australia in 1937. He worked in shipping, import and wholesale also married May in 1953.

Moreover, Passionate about journalism, May had a career as an administrator also an occasional writer with the Melbourne Herald. Romeo passed away in 1998 and lifelong friend Duilio Barro and solicitor Peter Arnold were appointed trustees of his estate. Further, The Schiavons’ goddaughter, Rhonda Barro, replaced her father as a trustee on his passing in 2009.

Eligibility

  • Be enrolled or enrolling in the 150-point or 200-point Master of Journalism programs at the University of Melbourne.
  • Applicants must have completed an undergraduate degree with a weighted average mark of at least H2B (70%), or equivalent.
  • In ranking applications, the Selection Committee will consider Prior academic performance; and Relevance of previous studies.

English language requirements

  • IELTS (academic English Only): 7.0 overall, with written 7.0 and no band less than 6.0.
  • TOEFL (paper-based test): 600 +
    TWE 5.0.
  • Also, TOEFL (internet-based test): 94 +.
    Writing 27. \ Speaking 18. \ Reading 13. \ Listening 13.
  • Also, the Pearson Test of English (Academic): 65 +
  • The written communicative skill of 65 and no other communicative skill below 50.

Recipients are to

  • Accept the award online within 21 days.
  • Further, Provide a progress report mid-way through the program which must meet the satisfaction of the committee for
  • payments to continue.
  • Submit a final report.
