Northern Michigan University, a public university in Marquette, Michigan offers a number of scholarships at domestic as well as international students. International Academic Award is the scholarship program for international students who wish to pursue a bachelor’s degree at Northern Michigan University.

Scholarship Award

Northern Michigan University offers unlimited number of scholarships through the International Academic Award scheme. Moreover, the scholarship covers up to $2,200 per year.

Eligibilities

The NMU International Academic Award is automatically available to academically talented, undergraduate international students who are enrolled at Northern Michigan University as a full-time associate or baccalaureate degree student. Moreover, students must have a GPA of more than 3.0 and should be enrolling in a full-time study in any undergraduate study at Northern Michigan University. But however, students enrolling at the English Language Institute (ELI) are not eligible for this undergraduate scholarship opportunity.

Renewal

Furthermore, the International Academic Award is the renewal scholarship. The university expects scholarship recipients to engage in cultural sharing or community service activities. But for renewal, students may receive scholarships for up to 8 semesters (new international freshman) or 6 semesters for transfer students, or until completion of first bachelor’s degree, whichever comes first. In addition to that, students must maintain the following conditions to renew the scholarship

  • A cumulative 3.0 NMU G.P.A. and full-time enrollment.
  • Meet Satisfactory Academic Progress Policy requirements.
  • FAO Monitors annually at the conclusion of the winter semester

With enrollment of about 8,000 undergraduate and graduate students, Northern Michigan University is the Upper Peninsula’s largest university. Moreover,  NMU offers programs in undergraduate, master’s degrees, Doctor of Nursing Practice and specialist certifications.
