International Youth Volunteering Programs in United Kingdom || Fully Funded
This is a unique and exciting opportunity to get experience in the youth work sector working at The Manchester Youth Zone. Located in an inner city suburb of Manchester, one of the largest cities of the United Kingdom, we aim to reach those young people who need “Somewhere to go, something to do and someone to talk”. We work with young people aged 6-19 and up to 25 for those with additional needs offering provision during the day for targeted young people and each evening for universal provision. There are 4 long term ESC positions. There are 2 positions for media & administration volunteers, 1 for a catering volunteer and 1 for a youth and play volunteer.
Volunteers will live together in a shared house in Manchester. The house has a fully equipped shared kitchen and lounge. Each volunteer will receive monthly allowances for food plus pocket money. You will be able to claim back your travel to and from MYZ. You will be able to use the gym free or charge.
You will attend an ESC on-arrival training course, and later mid-term training organised by the UK National Agency. You will have a personal development plan linked to Youthpass. We’ll make sure you have a full induction, complete all the required training and have a buddy when you start. Ongoing training, mentoring and support will be provided.
For the media and administration roles you should have excellent communication skills in person and online. You should be responsive, friendly and welcoming and have some experience of social media. For the role of youth and play worker you should have excellent communication skills. You’ll help to deliver sport, drama, dance, arts & crafts and STEM sessions to children and young people. For the role of catering volunteer you should have excellent communication and cooking skills. You’ll support our kitchen teams to provide a diverse range of dishes and deliver cooking sessions.
