Applications are now open for RSIF scholarships to conduct Ph.D. research in a PASET Priority Thematic Area!
The duration of the Ph.D. scholarship is 3 to 4 years, including 6-24 months in a ‘sandwich’ training placement at an international partner university, research institute, or private company. Priority for the scholarships will be for women as well as existing young academic faculty who do not have a PhDs.
The RSIF Ph.D. Scholarships cover university tuition and related fees, competitive stipend to cover living expenses, travel, medical insurance, and research costs.
Also, RSIF Ph.D. scholars will get support to spend 6-24 months in a ‘sandwich’ training at an international partner university, research institute, or private company.
RSIF Ph.D. scholars become part of a growing network of emerging leaders in ASET fields in SSA.
In addition, RSIF Ph.D. scholars will have access to RSIF competitive research grants upon completion of their PhD.
ICT including big data and artificial intelligence
Food security and agri-business
Minerals, mining, and materials engineering
Energy including renewables
Climate change.
Eligibility
Be a citizen of Mozambique or Senegal.
Have a relevant master’s degree in one of the fields of study.
Also, meet the specific admission requirements of the RSIF African Host University where they would like to pursue a Ph.D. (RSIF website).
Be willing to enroll full-time in a Ph.D. program at an RSIF African Host University in the 2022-2023 academic year.
In addition, should not be holding another Ph.D. scholarship, or currently, be enrolled in any Ph.D. Program when applying to the RSIF Ph.D. scholarship.
Be willing to spend 6-24 months in a ‘sandwich’ research placement at an international partner institute.
Moreover, demonstrate that their research goals are well aligned to the Priority Thematic Areas and contribute to Africa’s development.
