Details

The Master of Advanced Studies in Sustainable Water Resources at ETH Zurich (MAS ETH SWR) advocates an integrated vision of sustainable water resources management, with a focus on technical training and high-level research.

The programme is designed to advance the education of scientists and policy makers on the importance of water availability and water scarcity in a changing world, at the same time preparing them to face the challenges of the future, example, climate and land use change, increased water use and population growth. The MAS ETH SWR is interdisciplinary.

Successful graduates are awarded the academic degree Master of Advanced Studies ETH in Sustainable Water Resources  (MAS ETH SWR).

Scholarship: A few scholarships are available to students from low income countries and are awarded based on merit.

Eligibility : Applicants are expected to have educational backgrounds in environmental or civil engineering or related fields. In general, a Master’s degree is required for acceptance to the MAS. Highly qualified applicants with a relevant Bachelor’s degree may be admitted, if they provide evidence of sufficient professional experience in related topics.

Application Procedure

How to apply:

  • Step 1: Screening:  Send your CV, University transcripts (Bachelor and Master degrees), Letter of motivation (1 Page) , and research abstract for a thesis (up to 1 page) to darcy.molnar@ifu. baug.ethz.ch
  • Step 2: Online Application: Submit your online application.
  • Step 3: Submission of Hard Copies: After you have submitted your online application, you must send hard copies of the accompanying documents to ETH Zurich along with the signed online application form.  The following documents are required :
  1. Transcripts of your university studies ( Bachelor and Master)
  2. University Diplomas
  3. One page MAS thesis proposal
  4. One reference from an employer or university professor.
  • Step 4: Visa Application: As soon as you have been officially admitted to MAS programme, if you require a visa to study in Switzerland, contact the Swiss Embassy in your home country to apply for a visa. You will be granted a visa if you can prove that you have sufficient financial means to support living costs in Switzerland. Annual living costs are estimated at approximately $21,000 or 20,000 Euro.
