Do you want to contribute to the sustainable development of your home country and region? Are you looking for an opportunity to develop? The Swedish Institute awards scholarships for master’s studies to citizens from 41 countries. Read through the call for application carefully to ensure you are eligible.

What is SI Scholarship for Global Professionals?

The SI Scholarship for Global Professionals aims to develop future global leaders that will contribute to the United Nations 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development and to sustainable development. The scholarship is provided for full-time, one- or two-year master’s programme, and is funded by the Swedish Ministry for Foreign Affairs. In 2023 the Swedish Institute will grant about 250 scholarships for master’s degree studies in Sweden.

The Swedish Institute open the call for applications once every year for master’s studies beginning in the autumn semester. In order to have a successful application, the applicants should have a clear idea of how their education will contribute to the sustainable development of their home country and region; the applicant must make sure to be eligible, complete all steps of the process and have the documentation required to finalise the application in time. What’s included

The SI Scholarship is a competitive full-ride scholarship that includes: 

  • Full tuition fee coverage. The fee is paid directly by SI to your Swedish university in the beginning of each semester.
  • A monthly payment of SEK 11,000 to cover your living expenses throughout the study period.
  • Insurance against illness and accident.
  • A travel grant of SEK 15,000 (*11,000 for scholars from Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Georgia, Moldova and Ukraine). This is a one-time payment and does not apply for students already living in Sweden.
  • Membership in the SI Network for Future Global Professionals (NFGP) – a platform to help you grow professionally and build a network while in Sweden.
  • After your scholarship period has ended, you become a member of the SI Alumni Network. As a member, you get a unique opportunity for continued networking and professional development.
