The Tomorrow’s Leaders Program 2027–2028 is now accepting applications from eligible students across the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region. Sponsored by the U.S. Department of State’s Middle East Partnership Initiative (MEPI), this competitive scholarship program provides financial support for undergraduate studies, leadership development, professional training, and internship opportunities.

The program offers eligible students the opportunity to pursue undergraduate degrees at the American University of Beirut (AUB) or Lebanese American University (LAU) in Lebanon. Through academic education, mentorship, and practical learning experiences, the initiative aims to develop future leaders who can contribute to their communities and countries.

Applications for the 2027–2028 academic year are open until November 18, 2026. Interested students are encouraged to review the eligibility criteria and submit their applications before the deadline.

What Is the Tomorrow’s Leaders Program?

The Tomorrow’s Leaders Program is an educational and leadership initiative designed to support talented students from eligible MENA countries and territories. It provides opportunities for students with strong academic potential and leadership abilities to pursue higher education while developing the skills needed to become future leaders.

Selected participants study at one of the program’s partner universities in Lebanon. In addition to academic coursework, students benefit from leadership development activities, professional workshops, mentorship, and opportunities to gain practical experience through internships.

The program emphasizes academic excellence, civic engagement, professional development, and the ability to contribute positively to local communities and the wider region.

Benefits of the Tomorrow’s Leaders Scholarship 2027–2028

The Tomorrow’s Leaders Program provides comprehensive financial and educational support to selected students. Scholarship benefits include:

  • Full Tuition Fees: Coverage of tuition and enrollment fees for up to four academic years, subject to program requirements.
  • University Health Insurance: Health insurance coverage during the program.
  • Accommodation: Student housing at the host university.
  • Visa and Residency Expenses: Coverage of entrance visa and residency permit fees.
  • Monthly Living Stipend: Financial support during program activities, according to program provisions.
  • Textbook Allowance: Assistance with the cost of required academic books.
  • Laptop: A laptop for use during the program.
  • Airfare Support: Two round-trip tickets per year to the student’s home country, territory, or place of residence.
  • Leadership Development: Workshops and activities designed to strengthen leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Internship Opportunities: Opportunities to gain practical experience and develop professional skills.
  • Mentorship: Guidance and support from faculty members and other professionals.

Eligibility Criteria for the Tomorrow’s Leaders Program

Applicants must satisfy the program’s eligibility requirements to be considered for the 2027–2028 academic year.

1. Nationality and Country Eligibility

The program is open to eligible students from the following countries and territories:

  • Algeria
  • Egypt
  • Iraq
  • Jordan
  • Lebanon
  • Libya
  • Morocco
  • Syria
  • Tunisia
  • West Bank
  • Yemen

Certain Palestinian students residing in a third country may also qualify if they hold the required legal residency status. Applicants should consult the official eligibility guidelines for the applicable conditions.

2. Educational Requirements

Applicants should generally be current high school seniors or students who graduated from high school in 2026. Certain applicants from Iraq, Libya, Syria, the West Bank, and Yemen who graduated in 2025 may also be eligible under the program’s specific provisions.

Candidates should review the official requirements to confirm whether their graduation year and educational background qualify.

3. Academic Performance

Applicants are expected to demonstrate strong academic credentials and the ability to succeed in a demanding undergraduate program.

4. Leadership Potential

5. English Language Requirements

Applicants do not need to have TOEFL or IELTS scores when submitting their initial applications. Instead, they complete a free online English assessment provided by Arizona State University (ASU) as part of the application process.

Shortlisted candidates will subsequently be required to take TOEFL or IELTS, with testing costs covered for shortlisted finalists according to the program’s provisions.
