UNESCO/Poland Co-Sponsored Fellowships in Engineering 2025 (Funded)

Applications are open for the UNESCO/Poland Co-Sponsored Fellowships in Engineering 2025. With a view to promoting human resource capacities in the developing countries and to enhancing international understanding and friendship among nations and peoples, the Polish National Commission for UNESCO and the UNESCO Chair for Science, Technology, and Engineering at the AGH University of Krakow (Poland) are placing at the disposal of UNESCO twenty-eight (28) fellowships for the benefit of a number of developing Member States.

Beneficiaries of these fellowships will be given the opportunity to undertake an individual research programme in the field of Science, Technology and Engineering for a duration of 6 months between 1 October 2025 and 31 March 2026. The fellowship will last for 6 months and take place at the AGH University of Krakow, UNESCO AGH Chair (A. Mickiewicza Ave 30, PL 30-059 Krakow, Poland).

Benefits of Co-Sponsored Fellowships

Facilities offered by the Polish authorities

  • Free tuition for six (6) months and access to the university facilities based on the local regulations.
  • A Monthly allowance of 1800 PLN for BSc degree students and 2200 PLN for MSc degree students (1 USD = approximately 4,0 PLN), payment in accordance with national taxation regulations. This allowance is intended to cover all living expenses and accommodation in Poland.
  • A one-time special allowance of 1800 PLN for BSc degree students or 2200 PLN for MSc to be paid upon arrival in Poland, this sum will cover different activities related to your stay in Krakow, such as an obligatory medical check-up upon arrival (in accordance with the internal regulations for all students and fellows); cultural, historical and/or touristic visits, conferences, workshops, and seminars related to your studies.

Facilities offered by UNESCO

  • International travel expenses (by the most direct, economical route): from the beneficiary’s country to and from Poland will be covered by UNESCO;
  • Health insurance for fellowship beneficiaries who are declared medically fit: UNESCO fellowship holders may be covered by a health insurance policy, taken-out by the Organization for the duration of fellowship. UNESCO will subscribe the health insurance on behalf of awarded fellows and cover the cost incurred.;
  • One-time special pocket allowance of US$120 (one hundred and twenty US dollars).

Open to candidates from one of these countries:

  • Africa (21 Member States): Angola, Burkina Faso, Cape Verde, Côte d’Ivoire, Democratic Republic of the Congo, Eritrea, Ethiopia, Gabon, Gambia, Kenya, Malawi, Mali, Mozambique, Nigeria, Senegal, South Africa, The Comoros, the Seychelles, Uganda, United Republic of Tanzania, Zambia
  • Arab States (2 Member States): Bahrain, Iraq
  • Asia and the Pacific (22 Member States): Bhutan, Brunei Darussalam, Fiji, Independent State of Samoa, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Mongolia, Nauru, Pakistan, Palau, Papua New Guinea, Republic of Kiribati, Republic of Maldives, Tajikistan, Thailand, The Solomon Islands, Tonga, Turkmenistan, Tuvalu, Uzbekistan, Vanuatu, Viet Nam
  • Latin America and the Caribbean (12 Member States): Barbados, Cuba, Dominican Republic, El Salvador, Haiti, Jamaica, Mexico, Peru, Saint Lucia, Saint Vincent and Grenadines, Trinidad and Tobago, The Bahamas

Application

Prepare your application, including the following supporting documents to the National Commissions of your country of Origin:

  • UNESCO fellowships application form, All 4 pages duly completed in English using capital letter (illegible documents will be eliminated from the evaluation procedure, and hand writing form must be written in capital letters only);
  • A copy of the applicant’s passport
  • A copy of the identity photo of the applicant;
  • Certified copies (in copies) of Bachelor’s, Master’s Degree or PhD degree obtained (with Apostille or authorised by competent authority); For countries that do not recognize the Apostille: legalization the above documents in the country of issue is required.
  • A UNESCO certificate of language knowledge, duly completed by a relevant authority, if the mother tongue of the candidate is not English.
  • Two letters of recommendation from people familiar with the candidate’s work, confirming their qualifications (dated 2025 year).
