Victoria University Wellington invites application for a fully funded scholarship from domestic as well as international students pursuing Master degree. The university is well known for its programmes in law, the humanities, and some scientific disciplines, and offers a broad range of other courses. Victoria has the highest average research grade in New Zealand. Hence, the university encourages and aggregates students from every corner of the world with its lucrative scholarship scheme. Further, it encourages postgraduate research at Victoria by offering the fully funded scholarship to students about to begin a full-time, research-focused Master degree.

Benefits

  • The scholarship comprises a $15,000 tax-free stipend, plus tuition fees for one year (domestic fees for the thesis component only). Fees is payable directly to the University by the Scholarships’ Office.
  • International students other than those from Australia will be liable to pay the difference between the full international student fee and the domestic fee.
  • The scholarship stipend will be payable to each scholarship recipient in monthly installments.
  • Scholarships Office will make the first payment as soon as practicable after confirmation of enrolment
  • A small allowance of up to $200 is payable towards the cost of producing the thesis in receipt of an invoice. However, this allowance may lapse if not taken within two years of the date of enrolment.
  • Applicants must seek approval for the co-tenure of a Victoria Master’s Scholarship with other awards from the University Scholarships Committee if it exceeds a total of $6,000.

Eligibility

Applications are sought from those who are eligible at the time of application, or who will have become eligible at the start of Trimester 2 the following year, to enroll for a Master’s degree by thesis worth 90 points or more. In some cases, this will be Part 2 of a two-year Master’s degree and will usually have the course code 591.

Applicants undertaking a 180 point Master’s degree will not be eligible for this scholarship.

Applicants are eligible if they complete a Bachelor’s degree or Master’s degree Part 1. Further, they should demonstrate academic achievement equivalent to a First-Class Honours degree.

University Research Scholarships Committee and its sub-committee will decide the applicant receiving scholarships. Moreover, the committee will select the successful candidate exclusively on the basis of academic merit.

  1. All offers of the Scholarship will be conditional upon the recipient being fully enrolled in a full-year programme (full-time will be at the level of points considered by Studylink as full-time) within the stipulated criteria and tenure of the scholarship.
