Magnum Foundation’s Photography and Social Justice Program expands diversity and creativity in the field of documentary photography through capacity-building and critical explorations of photography and social change. Each year, the program supports a diverse, international group of Photography and Social Justice Fellows who are passionate about challenging injustice, pursuing social equality, and advancing human rights through photography. With New York City as a cultural resource, the program provides space for interdisciplinary experimentation, mentored project development, and cross-cultural, critical discourse at the intersection of photography and social justice. During the program, Fellows work on projects with support from Magnum Foundation mentors. Moreover, the Photography and Social Justice Fellowship is a fully funded program.
As the part of a fully funded fellowship program, Magnum Foundation covers the cost of travel and room and board for the sessions in New York City. Further, fellows also receive a modest stipend to support the production of their projects. Moreover, the Magnum Foundation is organizing the fellowship program in partnership with the City University of New York Graduate School of Journalism.
Magnum Foundation Photography and Social Justice Fellows are photographers motivated to deepen their engagement with photography and visual storytelling. Hence, their profile must align with the foundation’s criteria.
To apply for the fellowship program, the candidates must complete and submit the online application form. A panel of jury will shortlist the candidates for the program. Further, the shortlisted candidates will have to take a skype or phone interview for the final assessment. The panel will announce the selected fellows in January 2020.
Magnum Foundation makes no exception to the deadline. Hence, candidates can apply for the fully funded photography and social justice fellowship program until 15 October 2019.
