Duties
- Conduct legal and factual research and prepare memoranda on issues relating to ongoing and potential litigation projects.
- Also, review and analyze a paper record and interview fact witnesses and scientific experts.
- Draft motions, briefs, and other pleadings.
- Prepare comments on proposed agency actions, permits, and environmental review documents.
- Likewise, investigate facts and assist with case development.
- Also, assist in or take the lead in preparing a legal brief.
- Additionally, aappear in court under the supervision of a more senior attorney.
- Interact with clients on a regular basis.
- Likewise, work with experts.
Qualifications:
- Law school graduate admitted or willing to apply for admission, to the Hawai’i State Bar
- Preferably, three to five years of litigation or other relevant experience post-law school.
- Also, excellent research, analytical, writing and communication skills.
- Furthermore, familiarity with ‘ÅŒlelo Hawai’i and Hawai’i Pidgin English is a plus.
- Strong self-motivation, solid work ethic, and sound judgment.
- Also, the ability and willingness to work closely with others.
- Likewise, commitment to public interest work and the role of Earthjustice and its mission.
- Familiarity with environmental and cultural issues in Hawai’i is a plus.
- Also, awareness and sensitivity to the needs and concerns of individuals from diverse cultures, backgrounds, and orientations;
- Experience working with grassroots, disadvantaged, and/or culturally diverse communities is a plus.
Salary range for 3-5 years experience in Honolulu, HI: $85,785 – $95,285
