Duties

  • Conduct legal and factual research and prepare memoranda on issues relating to ongoing and potential litigation projects.
  • Also, review and analyze a paper record and interview fact witnesses and scientific experts.
  • Draft motions, briefs, and other pleadings.
  • Prepare comments on proposed agency actions, permits, and environmental review documents.
  • Likewise, investigate facts and assist with case development.
  • Also, assist in or take the lead in preparing a legal brief.
  • Additionally, aappear in court under the supervision of a more senior attorney.
  • Interact with clients on a regular basis.
  • Likewise, work with experts.

Qualifications:

  • Law school graduate admitted or willing to apply for admission, to the Hawai’i State Bar
  • Preferably, three to five years of litigation or other relevant experience post-law school.
  • Also, excellent research, analytical, writing and communication skills.
  • Furthermore, familiarity with ‘ÅŒlelo Hawai’i and Hawai’i Pidgin English is a plus.
  • Strong self-motivation, solid work ethic, and sound judgment.
  • Also, the ability and willingness to work closely with others.
  • Likewise, commitment to public interest work and the role of Earthjustice and its mission.
  • Familiarity with environmental and cultural issues in Hawai’i is a plus.
  • Also, awareness and sensitivity to the needs and concerns of individuals from diverse cultures, backgrounds, and orientations;
  • Experience working with grassroots, disadvantaged, and/or culturally diverse communities is a plus.

Salary range for 3-5 years experience in Honolulu, HI: $85,785 – $95,285
