Organization: Resident Coordinator System
The position is located in the Regional Desk of the United Nations Development Coordination Office (UNDCO) in Istanbul.
Responsibilities
Within delegated authority, the incumbent is entrusted with the following duties:
- Supports the Resident Coordinators and UN Country Teams (RCs/UNCTs) to ensure quality and timely integrated support to Member States in the implementation of the 2030 Agenda through the UNSDCF development.
- Likewise, designs and facilitates relevant UNSDCF formulation processes, and other related country level programming.
- Also, provides quality advice on UNDAF/UNSDCF evaluations, Common Country Analysis (CCAs) and UNSDCFs; facilitates substantive contributions from a regional and global perspective; keeping abreast of latest emerging trends and innovative approaches.
- Similarly, supports cross-UN system analysis. Organizes and prepares written outputs on sustainable development issues, e.g. draft background papers, analysis, sections of reports and studies, inputs to publications, etc.
- Also, supports capacity development, including training on UNSDG guidance and policies and provides help desk functions for RC/UNCT/RCOs;
- Likewise, promotes peer exchange and knowledge sharing with regards to programming for the RC System, including on UNSDCF.
- Conducts data analyses UNSDCF information and disseminates analytical findings and recommendations.
Qualifications
Education
Advanced university degree (Master’s degree or equivalent) in sustainable development, economics, public policy, public administration, finance, natural resources management, engineering, law, social sciences or related field. A first-level university degree in combination with two additional years of qualifying experience may be accepted in lieu of the advanced university degree.
Work Experience
- A minimum of seven years of progressively responsible experience in sustainable development-oriented project or program management
- Also, a minimum of two years of experience in partnership development
- Likewise, experience in advising senior management on sustainable development in a development cooperation context is desirable.
- Experience with setting up partnerships in development cooperation is desirable.
- Demonstrated analytical capacity in the areas of data and/or climate financing is desirable.
- Likewise, experience in managing a sizeable multicultural team at country, regional and global levels is desirable.
- Also, experience in the United Nations system or a comparable international organization is desirable.
Languages
English and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. For the post advertised, fluency in English is required.
