Basic Function:

Develop and provide leadership for the overall strategic planning and delivery of services of the CARES (Crisis, Advocacy, Resources, Education, and Support) Center. Assist the Office of the Dean of Students with addressing the mental well-being and basic needs of students through a variety of interventions, referrals, and follow-up services. Responsibilities include case management and collaboration with faculty, staff, academic departments, health care providers, parents, off-campus stakeholders, and colleagues within the Division of Student Affairs and other campus partners in order to minimize academic disruptions and help resolve problems affecting students. Foster student development and well-being by offering a supportive and personalized response when difficulties arise. Reports to the Dean of Students.

Duties:

• Assist the Dean of Students to provide support to students facing food, housing, mental well-being, and financial insecurity needs. Assist with support in student crisis situations.
• Furthermore, provide follow up support to faculty, staff, and student reporters involving students who display behavior that could be considered dangerous to self or others, as well as students in other non-life threatening crisis situations.
• Likewise, provide effective communication and organize collaboration among key University departments, faculty, staff, community agencies, and facilities. Collect, evaluate, and record all facts pertaining to student cases utilizing the Advocate database.
• Moreover, be available for one-on-one counseling/advising/problem solving with students, faculty, staff, and parents/families.
• Also, represent the division and university by speaking at university wide events and serving on university-wide committees.
• Additionally, perform related duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Master’s Degree in higher education, student personnel, social work, counseling, marriage and family therapy, psychiatric nursing, or a relevant field.
• Likewise, licensed or licensed-eligible in Ohio in LSW, LPC, LPCC, or equivalent.
• Also, a minimum of four years full time experience in higher education, mental health, social work, or related environment.
• Moreover, must be able to work nontraditional hours, including evenings and weekends.

License/Certification:

Licensed Social Worker (LSW), Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC ), Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor (LPCC), or equivalent.

Knowledge Of:

Knowledgeable about and skilled in psychological and medical issues related to emotional and behavioral health in the college student population.

Skill In:

• Understanding psychological and medical issues related to emotional and behavioral health in the college student populations.
• Oral and written communication.
