Incumbent must understand concepts of the physics of ultrasound, demonstrates advanced knowledge of full range of echocardiographic procedures, cardiac anatomy and physiology with a thorough understanding of cardiac abnormalities and disease processes. Performs 3D echocardiography, strain imaging and applies advanced cardiac ultrasound imaging techniques as assigned or per protocol. Furthermore, follows established imaging protocols and modify the examination accordingly to ensure complete accurate high quality cardiac echo information is obtained.
Participates in the training of cardiac sonographers, students, residents and fellows in echocardiography as assigned. Participates in personnel selection, may be assigned to review studies, train and direct junior level sonographers in new techniques under direction of technical director. Also, able to work independently and prioritize tasks needing completion. Positive communication and listening skills are important. Likewise, floats to labs in other clinic locations as needed. May need to work various shifts including nights and weekends. Required to take call after hours and/or on weekends.
