The Supply Chain and Strategic Sourcing Group at Facebook are seeking a Strategic Sourcing Manager Intern for next-generation optical components to drive impact and deliver results in the highly innovative Facebook devices group. This position will focus on leading one of the most strategic categories in sourcing. This will include managing an International supply base, owning supplier and partner relationships, defining the category and supply base strategy, management and negotiation of Master Product Supply Agreements, and related contractual execution activities.

Responsibilities 

Candidates on this Strategic Sourcing Manager Internship at Facebook will do the following duties

• Develop sourcing strategy ensuring suppliers are capable of meeting Facebook’s current and future technical and business requirements
• Strong command of value engineering and technical cost reduction concepts to both product and category level.
• Continually benchmark the industry to monitor technology trends and ensure best practices are incorporated into the Facebook supply chain.
• Drive Early Supplier Involvement initiatives to ensure our suppliers are proactively providing input into new product designs and future product roadmaps.
• Negotiate key agreements with suppliers to establish best-in-class pricing, flexibility, quality, delivery, payment, warranty, and service terms.
• Lead Total Cost Reduction program to ensure the lowest possible total cost, including product cost, transportation cost, inventory cost, and cost of quality.
• Formulate contingency plans to de-risk technical challenges, long lead time, single source, and any supply gaps.
• Ownership of sourcing category and strategies, leading 5+ year technology portfolio decisions, partner selection and business negotiations.
• Partner and work with a cross-functional team to drive the supplier selection process (own RFx) and component qualification both under strict engineering and commercial best practices/disciplines.
• Active participate in aiding to solve technical challenges along with cross-functional partners.
• Deliver most aggressive should-cost and budget (opex/capex) projections; with the ability to standup to the most aggressive alternatives, doubts, and scrutiny.
• Accountability for securing components and/or services in the above category that will provide competitive advantage in both technology and cost for Facebook.
• Achieve established commitments on total cost results, supply, quality and compliance adherence, and on-time delivery.
• Clear command of cost inputs, cost structure and technical specifications for all major categories in scope.

Minimum Qualifications

• Currently has, or is in the process of obtaining an MBA.
• 1+ years of experience in supplier evaluation/selection should cost models, contract negotiation, and supply base management.
• 1+ years of experience communicating with and influencing all levels of management.
• Familiarity with Hardware Product Development Process (PDP).
• Proficiency in Power BI, Tableau, or related data visualization tools.
• Must obtain work authorization in country of employment at the time of hire and maintain ongoing work authorization during employment.
