Description:
IRENA is an inter-governmental organization, mandated by governments worldwide to promote the widespread and increased adoption and sustainable use of all forms of renewable energy. Also, in order to do so, IRENA will facilitate access to all relevant renewable energy information, including technical data, economic data and renewable resource potential data. IRENA will share experiences on best practices, and lessons learned, and regarding policy frameworks, capacity-building projects, available financial mechanisms, and relevant technologies on renewable energy.
Duties:
- Assists the Direct Support Unit, communications team as needed with drafting and editing articles, op-eds, speeches, press releases and official statements.
- Also, co-ordinates with other units in communications with Members;
- Moreover, manages editorial tasks for IRENA publications, including short-term editorial/writing assistance, guidance on key editorial and style questions, and ensuring adequate technical and stylistic reviews;
- Co-ordinates with the Senior Communications Officer (Chief, Communications) or other team members on communications issues;
- Additionally, assists the communications team as needed with drafting and editing articles, op-eds, speeches, press releases and official statements.
- Likewise, performs communication tasks and other tasks.
Competencies:
- Knowledge of editorial policies, practices and research techniques. Solid writing and analytical abilities with sensitivity to nuance. Also, firm grasp of contemporary publishing procedures, design and layout and production. Likewise, excellent ability to write/edit different types of content for various audiences and to spot errors and inconsistencies in a text. A proven knowledge of both renewable energy issues and the global network of the renewable energy community, including specialized media.
- Knowledge of the different technical and software tools currently available for communications.
- Also, ability to work autonomously with strong project management skills; ability to work under pressure and to set goals, make plans, define deadlines and deliver on time.
- Moreover, possession of team spirit to build-up, manage and lead a team in a multi- cultural environment; proven supervisory and decision-making skills and ability to delegate responsibility; responsibility for incorporating gender perspectives and ensuring the equal participation of women and men in all areas of work.
- Creative and has an instinctual feeling for the art of research editing.
- Additionally, ability to maintain excellent relations with the global media, IRENA’s Member states and stakeholders.
