Position Summary
This role works within the Office of the Research Dean and the Englander Institute of Precision Medicine at Weill Cornell Medicine (WCM) and closely with Principal Investigators across multiple departments, the Institutional Biorepository and other Research Cores in supporting the WCM Blood Biobank Initiative, along with additional research studies and clinical data procurement and management.
Job Responsibilities
- Recruits patients from outpatient clinical settings into research studies across the institution.
- Also, obtains or coordinates the collection of informed consent.
- Collects, maintains and organizes study information using electronic databases.
- Likewise, collects clinical information (e.g. diagnoses, medications, biometrics).
- Moreover, manages the study biospecimen lifecycle for large prospective cohorts.
- Corresponds with study participants by telephone to schedule appointments and reminder calls for follow-up data collection, and administers in-person/phone surveys.
- Additionally, develops and maintains relationships with clinic personnel at study recruitment sites.
- Prepares study-related documents, reports, and maintains study files.
- Likewise, conducts literature searches and assists in grant submissions and/or dissemination of study findings.
- Reviews study data to ensure accuracy, timeliness, and completeness.
- Also, assesses and continuously improves Clinical Data Management processes.
- Ensures adherence to laboratory Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), established guidelines and work instructions.
- Moreover, responsible for additional responsibilities as necessary to support all other daily activities of research studies.
Education
Experience
- Bachelor’s degree is desired (health or science related field preferred).
- Also, approximately 3-5 years of clinical research and clinical coordinator experience involving human subjects.
- Phlebotomy certification preferred or willingness to become certified (training will be provided).
- Likewise, experience entering and managing data in clinical research databases (e.g. REDCap, OpenSpecimen, OnCore) preferred.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Demonstrated proficiency with MS Office Suite and database applications.
- Also, excellent communication skills (both verbal and written).
- Demonstrated organizational skills and ability to pay close attention to detail.
