Job Summary
This position performs assigned specialized duties in support of library operations. The Reference and Instructional Librarian teaches in the library’s program of course-integrated research instruction. Librarians have the rank of faculty at Dalton State College. Also, all positions are non-tenure track, but all librarians are eligible for promotion.
Duties:
- Assists patrons at the circulation desk; checks materials in and out; collects fines and fees.
- Also, assists patrons at the reference desk with research questions.
- Teaches in the library’s program of course-integrated research instruction.
- Likewise, develops, maintains, and promotes knowledge of research trends, emerging instructional technologies, and scholarly communication.
- Supports faculty and students in various subject disciplines.
- Moreover, maintains statistics in area of responsibility.
- Provides references services and guides library users in identifying, retrieving, and evaluating information in all forms.
- Assists patrons in the use of computers, printers, and copiers.
- Similarly, schedules the use of lab and other reserved spaces.
- Enforces library policies.
Required Qualifications
- Master of Library Science degree from an ALA accredited university.
- Also, three – Five years of related experience required.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with library catalog systems, video editing, and instructional technology applications such as mobile technologies (including iPads) and course management systems preferred.
