Rutgers, the State University of New Jersey is seeking a Per Diem Nurse Anesthetist for the Department of Anesthesiology at the Rutgers, Robert Wood Johnson Medical School.
Duties:
- Performing and documenting a pre-anesthetic assessment and evaluation of the patient, including requesting consultations and diagnostic studies; selecting, obtaining ordering or administering pre-anesthetic medications and fluids; and obtaining informed consent for anesthesia.
- Develops and implements an anesthetic plan.
- Similarly, selecting and initiating the planned anesthetic technique which may include: general regional and local anesthesia and intravenous sedation/monitored anesthesia care (MAC).
- Also, selecting, obtaining or administering the anesthetics, adjuvant drugs, accessory drugs, and fluids necessary to manage the anesthetic, to maintain the patient’s physiologic homeostasis, and to correct abnormal responses to the anesthesia or surgery.
- Likewise, applying, or inserting appropriate non-invasive and invasive monitoring modalities for collecting and interpreting patient physiological data.
Experience
- Graduate of an accredited Nurse Anesthesia Education Program with a Master’s Degree in a related field; or graduation from a program accredited by the Council on Accreditation of Nurse Anesthesia Education programs prior to January 1998.
- Also, applicants currently enrolled in a Master’s level Nurse Anesthesia Program will be considered but shall not practice as an Advanced Practice Nurse until successful completion of all requirements.

- Sufficient sensory capacity to observe the patient and patient monitors.
- Additionally, able to communicate effectively in both academic and health care settings.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills, and the ability to work in teams.
- Moreover, possess demonstrated ability to exercise good judgment, and effectively function in the face of uncertainties inherent in clinical practice.
