About:
The United Nations Volunteers program is a United Nations organization that contributes to peace and development through volunteerism worldwide. Volunteerism is a powerful means of engaging people in tackling development challenges, and it can transform the pace and nature of development.
Duties:
- Assist the State Project Director in planning, coordinating, implementing, and monitoring the project to ensure that its results are in accordance with the project document and results framework.
- Also, actively coordinate and facilitate convergence with activities pertaining to Snow Leopard and Prey Population Assessment in close coordination with the Department of Wildlife Protection Ladakh.
- Likewise, ensure regular communication and coordination with the National Project Management Unit, State Project Steering Committee, UNDP and MoEFCC with respect to project activities in the state.
- Prepare State-specific Annual Work Plans, including monthly targets and deliverables as well as annual spending targets in accordance with the Project Document.
- Furthermore, foster partnerships with relevant line departments and technical institutions working on land and forest management and sustainable livelihood issues in Ladakh to bring convergence in the project.
- Mobilize/capacitate/strengthen local communities, organizations and partners for biodiversity conservation and sustainable management of natural resources.
- Also, organize, facilitate and participate in the periodic review meetings including State Project Steering Committee meeting at least once or twice, per year, subject to availability of members and follow up on decisions taken at such meetings.
- Develop Terms of Reference for consultants; institutions/consultancy firms to be hired to undertake project activities and help the state government/UNDP in contracting processes.
- Moreover, monitor the works of consultants/institutions/consultancy firms awarded by state government/UNDP
- Additionally, review quality and consistency of reports and deliverables by partner institutions. Or responsible parties including financial reports from all project partners.
Education
- Bachelor’s Degree in the field of Environmental Sciences/Biodiversity Conservation/Wildlife Sciences/Natural Resource Management or related field
- Also, a Master’s degree in the above fields will be desirable.
- Outstanding communication, management and organizational skills
- Furthermore, familiarity with the working environment and professional standards of international organizations.
Required experience:
24 Months
Experience remark:
- At least 2 years experience in implementation of community based natural resource management projects, especially in Himalayan landscapes.
- Likewise, working with GoI institutions on natural resource management, biodiversity conservation.
- Proficiency in English.
Language skills:
- English(Mandatory), Level – Fluent
