Position Summary
Big Bend Community College invites applications for a Director of Facilities and Capital Projects position in the college’s Maintenance & Operations Department. Also, the Director of Facilities and Capital Projects is responsible for maintaining a physical environment that supports the College’s educational and programmatic goals by providing overall direction and leadership to the Facilities/Maintenance, Grounds, Custodial, and Motor Pool operations as well as Capital Planning and Administration.
Duties
Primary essential duties and responsibilities include, but will not be limited to, the following:
- Provide leadership, coordination, supervision and direction for maintenance, custodial, grounds, motor pool and capital projects:
- Also, direct major and minor capital projects; coordinate timely reviews of program, schematic and construction documents, ensure efficiency and economy of maintenance in plan specifications, and oversee activities of contractors.
- Direct efficient use of energy resources including solid waste control and recycling programs. Serve as an environmentally sustainable leader.
- Likewise, coordinate with Campus Safety & Security team to ensure proper execution of campus emergency response plans.
- Supervise and direct department employees including recruitment, training, coaching, and performance evaluation of staff to build an effective and responsive team.
- Additionally, prioritize and allocate resources to ensure maximum service delivery.
- Administer preventive maintenance program. Plan, direct, and manage a repair schedule for college-operated vehicles.
- Furthermore, develop and maintain effective working relationships with all college constituent groups – internal and external.
Minimum Qualification:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Business Administration or closely related field from a regionally accredited institution.
- Furthermore, five years of increasing leadership/management work responsibilities in the area(s) of maintenance and operations, facilities planning, and/or capital project management.
- Three years supervisory experience.
- Also, previous experience using MS Office Suite and maintenance management software to perform work responsibilities.
- Possess a valid, unencumbered motor vehicle operator’s license recognized by the State of Washington and proof of current auto insurance.
- Likewise, experience working with individuals from diverse academic, age, socioeconomic, cultural, ability, and ethnic backgrounds.
Desirable Qualification:
- Master’s Degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Business Administration or closely related field from an accredited institution.
- Moreover, work experience in a higher education setting, preferably in maintenance & operations, custodial services, and/or capital projects.
- Knowledge of construction standards.
- Likewise, knowledge of local building codes.
- Demonstrated experience in planning and fiscal management of capital projects, preferably within the State of Washington Public Works environment.
- Additionally, certification in Project Management.
- Bilingual English/Spanish fluency.
