Summary

The Malmberg Lab at the University of Wyoming (UW)/Wyoming State Veterinary Laboratory (WSVL) is seeking candidates for a postdoctoral research associate to develop and implement real-time quaking-induced conversion (RT-QuIC) for the detection of chronic wasting disease (CWD)

Duties

Based on protocols and technical expertise, the successful candidate must develop and implement RT-QuIC and contribute to multiple current and future CWD research projects.

Additionally, responsibilities include designing and performing controlled assays and experiments, analyzing data, and communicating results to diverse stakeholders including local, state, and federal agencies. Also, the presentation of research findings at national or international meetings is expected. Furthermore, the candidate will also be responsible for the writing of manuscripts and proposals for extramural funding. Also, additional essential duties include supporting and mentoring graduate and undergraduate students on other projects, including in vitro and genomic characterization of Mycoplasma Bovis in pronghorn (Antilocapra americana) and statewide assessment of CWD genetics and population genomics in elk

Qualifications

A Doctoral Degree is a must for this position, however, the University will give consideration to applicants that are currently pursuing their Doctoral Degree and will complete the degree prior to starting work.
Also, Ph.D. in a relevant discipline (will consider All But Defended applicants (ABD))
Similarly, strong statistical and analytical skills
Also, the ability to work independently
Additionally, evidence of strong written and oral communication skills
