The Department of Maritime Business Administration of Texas A&M University at Galveston invites applications for a full time, tenure-track position with a 9-month faculty appointment starting September 1, 2021. Applicants will be considered for the faculty title of Assistant Professor.

Duties

The successful candidate must conduct high impact research and teach undergraduate and graduate courses, both face-to-face and online in Maritime Economics. Through this position, the department expects to advance economic research for the Global Blue Economy. Furthermore, the candidate must publish in leading maritime and economic journals, participate in the bi-weekly departmental research meetings, and serve on an appropriate department committees.

The candidate must also engage in internal and external (professional) service. Additionally, salary and research budget are competitive. It is anticipated that this position will advance the department’s goal of AACSB accreditation and in becoming the premier Maritime research and blue economy academic leader in the USA. Also, the faculty member should actively contribute to the International Association of Maritime Economists (IAME), enhance graduate research and research funding, and help the department in the near future develop a PhD program in Maritime Business in the Americas.

Qualifications for Assistant Professor Position

The incumbent must meet the following requirements

The candidate must hold a Ph.D. in Maritime Economics or closely related field. Also, he/she must have a demonstrated interest in basic/applied research. Additionally, complementarities with the research of current faculty are essential.

The University will give preference to individuals who conduct high impact research and teaching in maritime economics. Likewise, have a strong record of relevant professional and/or research experience; demonstrate a commitment to ongoing professional development. Also, are able to show a successful college/university teaching experience, or show strong promise in research and teaching.
