Overview

New Jersey’s academic health center, Rutgers Biomedical and Health Sciences (RBHS) takes an integrated approach to educating students, providing clinical care, and conducting research, all with the goal of improving human health. Also, aligned with Rutgers University-New Brunswick and collaborating university wide, RBHS includes eight schools, a behavioral health network, and six centers and institutes that focus on cancer treatment and research. Additionally, neuroscience, clinical and translational research, advanced biotechnology and medicine, environmental and occupational health, and health care policy and aging research.

Posting Summary

Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey is seeking a motivated Director, Academic Technologies for the School of Graduate Studies at Rutgers Biomedical and Health Sciences.

Duties:

  • Monitors new developments and current higher education best practices and incorporates those as appropriate into operational management and planning. Stays abreast of novel applications of learning technologies and the latest developments in learning technologies.
  • Also, assesses instructional technology constraints identified by instructors/students to more effectively apply technology or identify a more effective technology solution to further improve instruction and learning at the graduate level.
  • Likewise, executes complex, institution-wide deployments of technology solutions and services and assists in determining the most appropriate project implementation. Develops and manages projects and programs that support the educational needs of the University.
  • Moreover, leads Special Projects identified by the Unit Dean that require sophisticated knowledge of information technology.
  • Provides senior School leadership with strategic planning for the educational technologies area and execution, as needed, with primary emphasis on academic technologies, in addition to overall project(s) direction, and ad hoc needs. Also, includes, but not limited to gathering, synthesizing, analyzing and/or maintaining adequate data and accompanying analyses that inform individual faculty, departments, groups, and School parties in matters related to academic technologies and their effective application.
  • Furthermore, works effectively both within the School as well as relevant campus and university offices to ensure high-quality. Also, timely data is compiled and analyzed both for ad hoc and recurring needs of the School and School leadership.

Minimum Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in the sciences and a minimum of 10 years of relevant experience in information technology administration that includes academic technology delivery, development, and management.
  • Also, established capability to effectively identify and troubleshoot issues related to pedagogical and didactic learning platforms. Moreover, especially remote and hybrid learning environments.
  • Demonstrated outstanding communication skills with a broad array of university and external parties, including senior faculty. Likewise, institute and center directors, senior campus and University-level administration, vendors, and professional peers.
  • Likewise, evidenced ability to stay abreast of relevant current trends, policy. Also, practice changes to ensure School learning community knowledge and utilization of most current and best practices and requirements.

Preferred Qualifications

  • An advanced degree in the sciences and/or biomedical-related disciplines.
  • Also, extensive experience establishing alliances among academic, public, and private sector sponsors. Also, partners as well as managing these alliances to ensure mutually beneficial outcomes.
