Duties

The ideal candidate will possess excellent verbal and written skills, with the ability to communicate effectively the university requirements pertaining to admissions and enrollment. Additionally, the Admission Counselor I, under general supervision, meets with prospective students and their families both virtually and in-person and contributes to meeting the strategic enrollment goals of Texas A&M University. Also, the candidate will present large group admissions presentations as well as handle one on one appointments. Furthermore, time management, public speaking, communicating in person as well as via phone and email with prospective students and their families, data input, the protection of confidential information according to The Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA). Also, the ability to work in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment will contribute to the success of the division.

Qualifications for Vacancy for Admissions Counselor

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree or any equivalent combination of education and experience

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Ability to multi-task and work cooperatively with others
  • Also, the knowledge of higher education

Preferred Education and Experience:

  • Master’s degree
  • Likewise, working experience with youth and ethnically diverse populations, admissions, recruitment, or higher education

Licenses and Certifications:

  • Must have a State of Texas class “C” vehicle operator’s license or ability to obtain within 30 days of employment
