Job Description

Essential Functions

  • Responsible for the day-to-day Sports Medicine care of assigned teams- Baseball and or as assign
  • Also, assist in maintaining the Carnesecca Athletic Training Facility to maintain optimal health safety and welfare of the student-athletes
  • Additionally, communicate with direct report physicians and coaching staff regarding the injury status of athletes. Makes appropriate physician’s referrals and appointments.
  • Moreover, immediately establish and continuously maintain a working knowledge of the NCAA and BIG EAST Conference rules and regulations and St. John’s University Policies and Procedures.
  • Furthermore, fulfills the University’s mission of assisting students and others.

Responsibility

  • Responsible for the day-to-day operations of the Sports Medicine Athletic Training Facility in Carnesecca Arena.
  • Also, responsible for oversight and coordination with rehabilitation including the partnership with Professional Physical Therapy

Work Environment

  • This job operates in a professional office environment. Non-traditional hours, nights weekends and travel are included.
  • Additionally, this role routinely uses standard office equipment such as personal computers, printers, etc.

Physical Demands

  • The physical demands of the job including to be able to provide emergency First Aid, CPR and AED. Also, the job entails lifting, filling and transporting water coolers.
  • Additionally, while performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally required to stand. Likewise, move about; sit; to carry work and use controls; reach with hands and arms; climb stairs; communicate.
  • Also, the employee must occasionally lift or move up to 50 lbs. Similarly, specific vision abilities required by the employee include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work

  • This is a full-time position. Days and hours of work are varied and may include weekend, nights and overnight travel.

Travel

  • Travel is primarily within the BIG EAST conference and to regional Universities.

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree required
  • 1-3 years related experience or training in collegiate sports medicine, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Additionally, Certified Athletic Trainer (ATC)
  • Likewise, CPR/AED and First Aid Certified
  • Also, NYS Licensure
  • Moreover, NATA certification

Competencies

  • Must be able to solve problems and troubleshoot issues, work independently and use sound professional judgement.
  • Also, proficient computer skills and knowledge required, specifically with Microsoft Office including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access plus other database environments preferred.
