The Student Financial Services – Assistant Director of Student Relations is the primary provider of customer service to students seeking financial aid at CSU-Pueblo. This position is stationed at the Financial Aid front office. The Assistant Director will answer inquiries from prospective and current student by telephone, walk in visits, and e-mail.

Primary Duties:

Supervision

  • Provide supervision to all SFS front office staff, both full-time and part-time.
  • Hire, train, and support new full-time and student staff as needed to fill open positions.
  • Create student employee schedule and ensure all student employees are held accountable for maintaining their contracted hours and grade point average requirement.
  • Seek professional development and training opportunities for SFS Counselors in regards to both Student Financial Aid Best Practices and customer service within higher education.
  • Efficiently manage all day-to-day operations of the SFS front office.

Counseling

  • Advise current and prospective students and families on all aspects of financial aid. This includes meeting with students to inform them of the process and requirements.
  • Also, advise students about financial aid eligibility. Likewise, application procedures; available financial aid programs; educational costs. Also, financial management strategies including loans, financing options, and other financial aid related matters.
  • Furthermore, while counseling students, this position will be required to adhere to federal laws, regulations and policies concerning federal student aid. This includes application review, utilization of Personal Access to Web Services (PAWS. Also,  PowerFAIDS Financial Aid management system, and troubleshooting issues and conflicting information.

Qualifications for Vacancy for Assistant Director

  • Bachelor’s degree.
  • Valid Driver’s license.
  • Evidence of ability to identify problems including research for solutions and/or answers.
  • Also, the ability to work effectively and tactfully with students, parents, staff and public.
  • Significant computer knowledge in order to read, analyze and prepare documents.
  • Supervisory experience.
  • Also, experience working with Microsoft Office products.
  • Previous experience in a position that required exceptional customer service.
  • Additionally, the ability to work normal hours of operation and additional hours as business necessitates. Hours may include evening and/or weekends.
  • Also, the ability to work effectively and tactfully with students, parents, and the public.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master’s Degree.
  • Knowledge of financial aid.
  • Additionally, the ability to appropriately handle and maintain confidentiality of highly sensitive student and family financial information.
  • Furthermore, previous experience working in higher education and/or financial aid.
  • Also, experience working with diverse student populations.
