The Department of Environmental Sciences and Policy invites applications for a full-time faculty position at the level of assistant professor. Also, the Department is an international center of excellence in environmental and sustainability research and teaching with a focus on interdisciplinary and critical scholarships in energy transitions and climate change; environmental and resource governance; environmental justice, politics and humanities; resource management and pollution control; and sustainable management of socio-ecological systems. We offer master’s and PhD education to future professionals and academics from around the world. We also contribute to teaching at the bachelor level. Likewise, through cooperation with networks of scholars and practitioners worldwide, we serve as a platform for the exchange of novel ideas addressing key environmental and sustainability challenges in our focus areas.

Qualifications:

• The University invite applicants with a PhD degree and disciplinary grounding in natural resources management, sustainability science, environmental/ecological economics or data/decision science.
• Likewise, applicants should have a proven ability to pursue high quality, independent research at the science-policy-society interface, and a matching publication record focused on one or more natural resource sectors, such as water, biodiversity conservation or agriculture.
• Moreover, the organization are particularly interested in candidates who critically analyze sectoral environmental issues within broader systems, sustainability, resilience, development, transition and/or transformation contexts.
• While having clear strengths in their chosen discipline, candidates should have a strong motivation to conduct interdisciplinary research on the environment and sustainability. Demonstrable strengths in the use of quantitatively oriented or mixed methods and proven ability to secure research grants will be an advantage.
• Similarly, curriculum and syllabus design and higher education teaching experience, including advising thesis research is desirable.
• Excellent command of written and spoken English is a must.

Compensation:

We offer a competitive salary that is commensurate with experience as well as additional benefits (e.g., sabbatical system, pension plan). Also, the initial contract is for 6 years. Contracts are renewable and can be turned into indefinite contracts depending on outcome of review.
