Position Summary

This is a special opportunity to join a dynamic interdisciplinary faculty actively engaged in shaping the future of public health through innovative curricula, transformational research and community partnerships designed to create a positive collective impact on at-risk populations. The University seeks an individual with experience in the area of emergency management, humanitarian assistance, and/or global health security to join and lead the college concentration of Global Disaster Management, Humanitarian Relief and Homeland Security (GHH).
In a changing world where people are becoming increasingly vulnerable to natural disasters and acts of violence, the need for formal training programs designed to enhance the knowledge base of public health and other disaster management professionals is growing. Additionally, to fill this gap, the GHH program prepares students at the undergraduate, masters and doctoral levels to recognize, assess, evaluate and respond to global or local disasters.

Qualifications

The interested candidates should meet the given criteria for Vacancy for Associate Professor at the University of South Florida in the USA

Minimum

  • Doctoral degree in Public Health or a related field or the equivalent.
  • Two years of continuous and productive accomplishment as an Assistant Professor or equivalent in practice in the area of global disaster management, humanitarian relief or homeland security.
  • Additionally, a record of excellence in teaching in global disaster management, humanitarian relief or homeland security, including a clearly defined teaching philosophy, participation on thesis and/or dissertation committees, or, teaching through non-traditional settings such as workshops, panels, field schools, mentoring, etc. and activities such as those that indicate the potential for a national and/or international reputation for teaching where applicable.
  • Documentation of continuing effectiveness and appropriate accomplishments in research and scholarly activity in the area of global disaster management, humanitarian relief or homeland security.
  • Also, a record of the substantial contribution of service to the University/Employer and to the field, profession and community as appropriate to the mission and goals of the College and/or University/Employer.
  • Likewise, a record of collegiality and participation as a citizen of a University or workplace.

Preferred

  • Relevant leadership experience in practical applications of global disaster management, humanitarian relief or homeland security to the field of practice.
  • Additionally, evidence of translating global disaster management, humanitarian relief or homeland security research to practice.
  • Evidence of innovation in teaching undergraduate and graduate students, curriculum development, mentoring and supervising graduate students.
  • Also, the successful direction of the work of masters and doctoral candidates.
  • Experience in teaching online and in-class courses.
  • Furthermore, he/she should have demonstrated the ability to work collaboratively in multidisciplinary teams.
  • Likewise, demonstrated record of leadership in community or professional organizations.
