Job Description:

The successful candidate will provide career coaching and engagement to all UT Austin undergraduate students and recent alumni in support of the University’s mission to provide equitable access to career education and to foster the retention, persistence, completion, and post-graduation success of our students.

Responsibilities:

Provide comprehensive individual and group career coaching services, including defining career goals; developing career plans; navigating and understanding various industries; internship assistance; work-study employment; resume and cover letter critiques; interview preparation; and connecting students with resources. Additionally, assist in the development of a career curriculum and teach career development courses. Promote and support student utilization of career-related technology tools.

Develop and deliver specialized career engagement with students around diversity and inclusion career topics and in groups that share affinity identities. Research and provide tailored tools, resources, and knowledge to help diverse students strategize and implement internship and career searches. Furthermore, empower students to explore and articulate their uniqueness in the career context. Also, foster, and support group activities that provide a safe place for peer-to-peer sharing and career activities. Also, provide career education in diverse spaces across campus.

  • Create, manage, and grow industry-specific career communities for all UT Austin students, regardless of major. Also, plan, coordinate, and present industry-focused career programming and workshops that offer tailored resources and opportunities for careers, professional development, and employer connections.
  • Additionally, collaborate with the Texas Career Engagement team to develop and implement a campus-wide career readiness program. Similarly, educate students on career readiness competencies, providing them with the tools and language to articulate the full array of marketable skills and talents gained through curricular and co-curricular activities.
  • Also, participate in and research topics for continued career education learning and professional development. Likewise, develop an advanced understanding of career coaching knowledge; research employment trends, industry insights, and best career coaching practices; curate and share this information with career coaches and campus partners. Create web and general content related to student career interests.
  • Additionally, attend company-led presentations and events to learn from employers and share insight with students. Collaborate with the employer engagement team to foster student-employer connections.
  • Also, represent Texas Career Engagement at high-profile events, committee meetings, and work-groups. Attend conferences and professional development meetings pertinent to advancing career services.
