Description:
The Center for Environmental Management of Military Lands (CEMML) is a research, education and service unit within the Warner College of Natural Resources (WCNR) at Colorado State University (CSU). CEMML applies the latest and most appropriate science to promote the sustainable management of natural and cultural resources on Department of Defense (DOD) and other public lands. Also, it provides technical support, conducts applied research, and offers career development and learning opportunities to support environmental resources stewardship. Likewise, CEMML collaborates with its sponsors and partners to resolve complex environmental issues, leaving a legacy of science-based decision-making that sustains public resources for future generations.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in English, Journalism, Communications, or related field.
- Moreover, minimum three years’ experience in editing, writing, or journalism.
- Demonstrated experience writing or editing technical proposals and reports and understanding the relationship between formatting and concept communication.
- Also, excellent attention to grammar and formatting details, especially as they apply to document organization, style, font, table/figure and captions, and graphic formatting.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills and the ability to collaborate with a diverse range of people, including government and non-government officials.
- Must possess strong organizational skills with ability to plan, execute, and achieve goals.
- Must be able to evaluate and assess marketing needs and assist CEMML leadership and staff to implement.
- Furthermore, experience creating and delivering guidance that clarifies, ensures and reinforces standards.
- Ability to collaborate with Office of Sponsored Programs and CEMML Communications staff.
- Must have a valid driver’s license or the ability to obtain a driver’s license by the employment start date.
- Similarly, the successful candidate must be legally authorized to work in the United States by proposed start date. CEMML will not provide visa sponsorship for this position.
Preferred Job Qualifications
- Experience with natural and/or cultural resources management.
- Demonstrated experience supervising and leading editorial teams and providing constructive feedback to optimize product and mentor staff.
- Experience with technical and/or science writing.
- Also, ability to revise written products to improve grammar and concept clarity, including scientific terminology and Latin names.
- Likewise, experience revising and optimizing documents to conform to reporting templates and authorship guidance while maintaining tone consistency among multiple authors.
- Familiarization with DoD/military terms, acronyms, language, and culture.
- Knowledge of various document production techniques (InDesign, Word, online collaboration software).
- Similarly, knowledge of current requirements for scientific writing.
Responsibility
- Review documents to ensure written content reinforces CEMML brand.
- Moreover, maintain Quality Assurance/Quality Control (QA/QC) for editorial staff.
- Also, verify accuracy of cited sources and format appropriately.
