Description

The Coordinator for Community Engagement is responsible for developing campus wide civic and community engagement experiences to enhance the growth and education of a diverse student body. Additionally, the coordinator will be responsible for civic and community engagement program logistics, create a comprehensive series of outreach efforts to all campus and community members that support volunteerism, assess all program activity and report outcomes, partner with staff on student development programs that highlight civic and community engagement, and work in partnership with unit staff in the development and execution of student involvement and leadership programs.

Qualifications

Required:

  1. Master’s degree in Student Personnel, Higher Education Administration, Education, or related field.
  2. Additionally, progressive full-time experience working with university/college campus activities and student groups in a college or university setting.
  3. Likewise, experience building/refining service-learning programs, volunteer opportunities, and civic engagement programs for a diverse student population as well as building relationships with local community partners and non-profit organizations.
  4. Furthermore, experience with event planning (reservations and permits, budgets and contracts, marketing, and assessment).

Desired:

  1. Continuous experience working with university/college campus activities, leadership programs, and community/civic engagement programs in a college or university setting.
  2. Also, experience with living learning communities and building student volunteer opportunities with federal, state, local agencies.
  3. Furthermore, experience with student leadership training programs, and student activities as well as working with Campus Labs or other student engagement platforms.
  4. Bilingual skillset.

Duties

The coordinator will have the following duties

Develop a series of civic and community volunteer experiences for the student body that connect with unit mission, division goals, and university priorities. Additionally, responsible for program decision-making, research and development, marketing coordination, outreach, and budget management.

Furthermore, event logistics will include scheduling appropriate physical/virtual event spaces, scheduling a variety of related educational workshop topics and conference/retreat themes. Likewise, partner with campus and community members in developing and maintaining a portfolio of volunteer opportunities. Also, track student volunteerism using unit/division/university reporting systems.
